A wonderful addition to the Singleton of Dufftown range, The Spey Cascade takes its inspiration from the top-class fly fishing available on the river (which perhaps explains the fish on the label). This whisky is matured in a mixture of both sherry and Bourbon casks, resulting in a dram of superb balance and complexity. The twin cask maturation adds juicy fruit flavours to the classic Dufftown profile of nuts, malt and toffee. This whisky hits the sweet spot between drinkability and intricacy. On the nose Spey Cascade opens with baked apples, cinnamon, toffee, salted caramel, brown sugar, figs and plums. The palate is medium bodied, and faithful to the nose, adding a little licorice, prunes, barley, malt and cinnamon. The finish is medium in length, with some chocolate and espresso notes. A cracking little dram, well worth trying!
