A superb cask-finished rum from Panamanian outfit, Ron Abuelo.

This bottling spent the last part of its 15 year maturation finishing in Napoleon Cognac casks. Napoleon Cognac is a traditional title that has only recently been made “official”, designating that the spirit has been aged for at least six years.

Using this cask has lent this rum terrific depth and complexity, imparting notes of sweet fragrant flowers, fresh grapes, figs, dates, cloves, espresso, anise, toffee and tobacco smoke. These flavours complement Abuelo’s naturally dry and tropical spirit perfectly, highlighting flavours of pineapple, mango and banana. 15 years of maturation has given this rum a long, oaky finish.

An excellent sipping rum, full of character.
