A Cognac almost without parallel. This XO is another top-quality release from Ragnaud Sabourin, further affirming them as one of the best producers in the Cognac region. Ragnaud Sabourin have been family owned since they were first formed way back in 1850. They have an unerring commitment to producing Cognac of the best quality, demonstrated by their strict policy of only using grapes grown in the Grande Champagne region. As with all their bottlings, this Cognac is free from any colouring or additives. Being an XO, this Cognac is legally required to have spent a minimum of 6 years in oak casks. However, Ragnaud Sabourin have far exceeded expectations, aging this Cognac for at least 25 years. This Cognac has also been drawn from casks laid down within the same year – there is no blending of vintages here. On the nose, the Cognac displays the classic floral aromas for which Ragnaud Sabourin is known, with hints of toffee and woodspice, dried fruit and a little sweet wine. The palate is decadent and rich, with a thick mouthfeel and a dense oakier character. Slightly tannic, this gives way to a vanilla custard flavour, with touches of succulent fresh fruit and nutmeg. The finish is everlasting, with outstanding drying oak notes, and a lingering spice. One of the very finest XOs on the market, this Cognac is presented beautifully in a gorgeous decanter style bottle.
