A powerful Cask Strength single malt whisky from the Port Askaig brand in Islay.

This small batch bottling was released in 2023 as part of the brand’s relaunch, and was produced at a mystery Islay distillery. Only around 60 barrels are thought to go into each batch, with slight variations from each iteration - but that’s the beauty of small batch whisky.

The spirit was matured in a combination of first-fill Bourbon barrels and bigger refill American oak hogsheads.

This dram offers notes of greasy peat, lemon rind, woodsmoke, dark chocolate, vanilla, sea spray, toffee, fresh flowers, some ashiness, green apples, a little warming spice, sweet oak, black pepper and grilled pineapple.

Weighing in at a cask strength of 59.4% ABV, this is a punchy, satisfying dram.
