A bottling from a secretive Orkney distillery (though the label does feature the letters HP – could that stand for Highland Park?). This expression has been bottled by Signatory Vintage for their much loved Cask Strength series.
The whisky is a single vintage, having been distilled in 2005 and aged for 18 years in just one first fill Oloroso Sherry butt, building an intense and powerful sherried profile.
This dram serves up powerful notes of oily nuts, fragrant herbs, plums, raspberries, figs, quince, marmalade, baked apples, creamy grain, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, slight smoke, rich dark oak, black pepper, milk chocolate, a touch of mint and sweet wine.
Bottled at a warming cask strength of 54.6% ABV, this is a full bodied and fully flavoured single malt whisky.
452 bottles were produced.
