At Fine Drams, our love of the fresh and fragrant Rum Agricole is no secret, so it is always exciting to get bottles from different producers. Often hard to source in Europe, Neisson produces their rum in Martinique in the French West Indies. They grow all their cane on site at the distillery, a common feature of many Agricole producers. This rum has been aged for between one or two years primarily in virgin French Oak casks, before being transferred into former Bourbon American oak barrels for a second maturation of between 6 to 8 years. These second barrels are much smaller, around 150 litres, compared to the French Oak barrels, which can be as big as 650 litres. Drinkers should expect wonderful sweet and sour Agricole flavours, with some fresh cane, grapey succulence and bright vanilla. The rum is bottled at 45% ABV, giving these flavours a real boost. Another lovely Agricole that we are excited to add to our collection.
