A very interesting release from the Cognac giants, Martell. This bottling first hit the shelves in 2017, and made an immediate impression, partly as it is a rare experiment from such a large producer.
This bottling is produced with Cognac from just one distillery, rather than the blends that Martell usually put out. This allows the Cognac house to illustrate the differences between blended eau-de-vie, and single estate offerings.
The resulting spirit is surprisingly intense and rich for its age, with a real purity of fruity grape flavour and floral notes, alongside a little bright citrus peel.
All in all, a superb product, featuring Martell’s classic swift logo embossed on the bottling.
