A whisky produced through a partnership between Mackmyra distillery and Italian winery Masi.
After first being matured in Mackmyra casks in their aging centre in the former Bodås mine, the spirit is matured in former Amarone casks from the Masi vineyard. This rich, dry wine is perfect for adding complexity and flavour to single malt whisky, as shown here.
The resulting whisky is warm, spicy and as rich in flavour as it is in (natural) colour. This dram opens up with dried fruit, ginger, sweet red grape, tannic oak and dark chocolate, before maltier flavours of biscuit, oily nuts, cake and vanilla take hold.
Bottled at 46.1% ABV and without chill filtration, this is a full bodied dram that rewards patient sipping.
