A real treat here from the good folk at the Ultimate Whisky Company.
This whisky is produced by a distillery whose stature has grown in recent years – Macduff, or as it is now better known, Glen Deveron.
Not only is this whisky cask strength, but it has also been matured in a first fill sherry butt, ensuring it is absolutely packed with incredible flavours.
This is a 2008 vintage, distilled on the 11th of August 2008, and bottled on the 1st of November 2017, having matured in sherry butt number 900343 for fully 9 years.
Drinkers should except jammy fruity notes, some dark oak, Christmas spices of star anise, nutmeg and cinnamon, a little chilli heat, sweet wine and toasted nut flavours alongside a good, hearty malt character.
Bottled at 61% ABV, this dram certainly packs a punch, but this only benefits the whisky, allowing its thick, viscous mouthfeel to take hold. The spirit is also free from artificial colouration or chill filtration, giving a fully natural experience.
645 bottles were produced from this sherry butt.
