A Macallan bottling that caused a bit of a stir when first released, this has been rightly recognized as a new classic from this prestigious distillery. This 18 year old single malt has been matured in a mixture of sherry and Bourbon oak casks. Interestingly, this Macallan uses sherry season casks made with both European and American oak, offer two very different flavour profiles. The result is a terrific whisky, with superb balance between the sherry and Bourbon influences. Bottled at the slightly higher strength of 43% ABV, this allows the notes of tropical fruit, jasmine and citrus to really take hold. No colouring was used in the production of this whisky and it is one that Macallan fans should definitely try, offering something a little different from the fine old distillery.
