Another superb bottling from the Càrn Mòr independent bottlers, forming part of their extremely small batch Strictly Limited series.
This time round they’ve picked out a delectable Linkwood. Something of a cult favourite, Speyside distillery Linkwood is prized by blenders for its weighty texture and fresh flavours, a character achieved by long fermentation, a clear wort and slow distillation in large spirit stills which maximises copper contact.
Aged in a pair of Bourbon barrels, the spirit was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2018, having been matured for 6 years. A short aging period means this whisky displays faint oak influence, with the Linkwood house style on full show.
The dram delivers notes of white nectarines, flowers, malt, citrus rind, brown sugar, pepper, honey, pineapple, mango, vanilla, peaches and slight oak.
Bottled at 46% ABV, and (as ever with this bottling series) without chill filtration or colouration, this is a natural whisky packed with flavour.
Just 660 bottles were produced.
