Ledaig is Tobermory’s peated whisky, and is known for its marvellous oily, coastal style. The whisky was first produced in 1993. This is one of the finest examples of the line, finished in Marsala. As such it takes the classic Ledaig savoury, slightly bitter smoky whisky, but then adds a wonderful layer of fruity, wine-led sweetness. This presents a better balanced whisky, with the two contrasting halves pairing off against each wonderfully well. Drinkers should expect notes of smoked, sweet-glazed ham, grapes, boiled sweets, and barbequed meats. A full and flavousome whisky, bottled at 51%, and presented without either chill filtration or caramel colouring.
