A remarkable French single malt from Chateau du Breuil, who are far better known for their top quality Calvados.
Distilled in Normandy from local Golden Promise barley, this whisky has been aged in a combination of French (naturally) and American oak casks.
The final product is a whisky that offers a rich malty character, accompanied by flavours of spiced oak, vanilla, honey, pepper, and (this is perhaps the power of suggestion) a distinctive Normandy apple cider note.
Bottled at 46% and without chill filtration, this is a medium bodied whisky.
If Breuil are branching out into whisky, this is a sign they are heading in the right direction!
