Kübler Absinthe
50 cl, 53%

Swiss Absinthe produced in the Val-de-Travers area of Switzerland, known as the “birthplace of absinthe”.

This Absinthe brand and recipe dates back to 1863, but as is well known, Abinsthe was banned in Switzerland in 1908. Indeed, Kübler Absinthe was not seen again until the prohibition was lifted in 2001, becoming the first brand to be sold legally in the country. It is now distilled by Yves Kübler, the great-grandson of J. Fritz Kübler, who first founded the distillery.

The spirit is produced with a base of neutral Swiss wheat spirit, and includes botanicals of grande wormwood (Artemisia Absinthium), anise, hyssop, lemon balm, coriander, star anise, fennel, Roman wormwood and mint.

The botanicals are macerated, before a slow distillation that retains their flavour. No sweeteners or colourings are added, and the final product is perfectly clear, unlike the vivid green Absinthes often found.

Kübler offers an intense anise and mint flavour, with powerful bittersweet wormwood, herbaceous notes, some pressed flowers, fennel and a peppery, alcoholic spice.

Bottled at 53% ABV, this is less strong than many Absinthes, but remains a powerful and flavoursome spirit.
