An exciting bottling from this distillery, which is owned by William Grant and Sons, and somewhat overshadowed by their other distilleries, Glenfiddich and Balvenie.

Originally this distillery was created to produce extra malt for the Grant’s blends, and as such it is rarely seen as a single malt. Kininvie’s premises are contiguous with Balvenie’s grounds, and the distillery uses special malting and mashing equipment inside Balvenie distillery, whilst not using Balvenie’s in-house malt, and enjoying a longer fermentation than its big brother distillery.

This 1996 vintage was initially released for the travel retail market. The whisky serves up bright fruity flavours of grapes, peaches and apricot, alongside some dense biscuity malt, flowers, charred oak, black pepper, nutmeg and toffee.

Kininvie 17 year old is bottled at 42.6% ABV for a little extra intensity.

A very tasty dram from this highly sought after and somewhat enigmatic Speyside distillery.
