A rather fascinating single malt whisky from Dutch distillers Kalkwijck.
Kalkwijck are a farm distillery who produce the entire whisky product from grain to glass.
This is the sixth batch in their Eastmoor series, which takes its name from the eastern peat district of Overijssel, the province where the distillery is located.
This whisky was distilled in April 2015, and bottled in November 2020, having been aged for five years in a combination of peated Oloroso sherry casks and European oak barrels.
The result is rather unique whisky, with notes of soft brown sugar, coconut flakes, caramelised citrus rind, raisins, vanilla, dark chocolate and a subtle wisp of smoke.
Bottled at 47% , this is a well structured, medium bodied dram.
Just 1142 bottles were produced.
