Few things are as straight-forwardly delicious as well aged single grain whisky, and here is a perfect example of the style.

This Invergordon was distilled in 1997, and matured for 21 years in a single refill American oak hogshead, before being bottled on the 19th of November 2018 by the fine folk at Gordon and MacPhail.

After so long in the barrel, the spirit has developed tonnes of character and flavour. The spirit opens with flavours of dried mango and pineapple, milk chocolate, orange, bananas, peppery spice, cinnamon, anise, dense vanilla and honey, dark oak, and bright, sweet grain.

Bottled at a pleasing cask strength of 55.5% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this dram is an all-natural affair.

A great sipping grain, only 218 bottles of this Invergordon were produced.
