A superb Grande Champagne Cognac bottled by the highly esteemed Grosperrin company.
This rare spirit originates from a small estate in Verrières, one of the most famed terroirs in the Grand Champagne cru. The winemaker, who is now retired, is known for the care and attention he brought to producing his wine and spirits.
The lot was originally part of a family joint ownership dating back to 1981. Since this date, the spirit was aged in a single cask, in the small cellar which opens onto the kitchen.
Another excellent pick from Grosperrin, this Cognac delivers notes of dried grapes, vanilla, crushed flowers, muscular oak, plums, honey, toffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, old dessert wine, slight tea and some flinty mineral flavours.
A terrific spirit that reflects its high quality terroir. Grosperrin have bottled the Cognac at a formidable 58.1% ABV, quite an achievement considering it has aged for a long time.
