A delightful Cognac bottled by Grosperrin as part of their “Les Lots” range.

This offering comes from the Fins Bois cru, easily the largest of the Cognac crus. With such a large region, the terroirs and quality of the eaux-de-vie can vary greatly, meaning that Grosperrin must look long and hard to find the best examples of spirit from this area. Nevertheless, the finest sites in Fins Bois can rival the best locations in the premier crus of Grand and Petite Champagne.

Grosperrin acquired this Cognac in 1999, following the death of a winegrower who was well known for his high quality eaux-de-vie. The spirit continued to be matured in the Grosperrin cellars, and was separated from other casks due to its obvious quality. The Cognac was eventually bottled in 2017, 18 years after it was initially purchased by Grosperrin.

This bottling offers up notes of white pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, anise, some forest floor, light floral aromas, candied cherries and citrus rind, dried fruits, rancio and old oak.

Another top notch Cognac from Grosperrin, the dram is bottled at 42.2% ABV for a little extra body and depth.
