Grosperrin 1992 Bons Bois Cognac (Lot N°679) (35 cl)
35 cl, 51.5%

A terrific 1992 single vintage Cognac bottled by the acclaimed Grosperrin company.

The Bon Bois cru is one of the largest regions of Cognac, and contains a wide range of terrains from the sandy coastal regions, to clay rich soil more inland. This Cognac has been made at a family estate in the Pessines Commune of western Cognac. The farm was established in 1971, with only 10 hectares of apple trees, and now counts over 100 hectares of various fruit trees. Nevertheless, as is common in this part of Cognac, vineyard growing is a secondary pursuit.

The estate maintains only a handful of vine hectares and produces only a small amount of rare Cognac. The grapes grow in clay rich soil which does not have the greatest reputation for wine and spirit making. That said, if the vines are carefully grown, the spirit is expertly distilled and closely observed during maturation, a very fine Cognac with a unique profile can be produced. That is the case with this bottling.

The dram serves up notes of rich orange rind, toffee, rum and raisin ice cream, vanilla, nutmeg, cloves, cut grass, soft oak, flowers, some salty sea spray and oily nuts.

Bottled at 51.5% ABV, this is a beautiful, full bodied Cognac.
