Grosperrin 12 Year Old Borderies Cognac (Lot N°700)
70 cl, 50.8%

Grosperrin are known for picking some of the finest parcels and casks of Cognac in the industry, and this bottling is no exception.

The company is a family concern, with Guilhem Grosperrin taking over from his father Jean in 2004, after Jean had spent many years working as a Cognac broker, developing his skills of assessing spirits and making a wide network of contacts. Guilhem was well positioned to continue the fine work of his father, and he has done.

This bottling was produced in the region surrounding the town of Burie, in the Borderies Cru of Cognac. The Borderies cru is by far the smallest region in Cognac, and is known for producing spirit with a floral quality.

The grapes used in this bottling were grown by two brothers, who are now retired, and maintained an extremely traditional vineyard. Grosperrin ensures the quality of the Cognac by personally visiting the vineyards and winemakers, and understanding their history and methods thoroughly before purchasing stock.

Grosperrin 12 Year Old Borderies Cognac has been aged in exclusively French oak barrels. The final result is a spirit that delivers notes of soft flowers (honeysuckle particularly), gently spiced oak, pastry, toffee, rancio, some beeswax, faint tobacco and a slight flintiness.

The Cognac is bottled at the higher proof of 50.8% ABV, giving it fantastic body and structure.

A complex and delicious Cognac from a top class producer.
