Glenturret 30 Year Old 1988 - Signatory 30th Anniversary
70 cl, 52.4%

Founded in 1775, Glenturret, which was originally called Hosh Distillery, is the oldest distillery in Scotland. It produces a single malt destined primarily for the Famous Grouse blend. Distilled on 23rd June 1988, this version wonderfully embodies the deliciously herbaceous, abundantly fruity and deeply malty character of this south Highland whisky. Original in more than one way, it overflows with unusual flavours and aromas that are perfectly integrated into the rest of the palette.

Colour: deep golden yellow.

Profile: the fresh and heady initial nose is mentholated, fruity (melon) and medicinal (balm). It then develops a more rustic register (dandelion). The fragrant attack is covered in a thin layer of caramel. The mid-palate is exotic (mango, pineapple), spicy (saffron) and aquatic (water lotus). The fleshy finish is resinous (pine) and also exotic (mango). The end of the palate is mentholated.

The whisky was disgorged and bottled under my supervision in the Town of Pitlochry on 18th July 2018.
