Glen Grant is well known for shining at greater ages, and this bottling from inimitable bottlers Gordon & MacPhail is an excellent example.
A 1989 vintage, this dram was aged for 30 years in a single refill Bourbon barrel, having been bottled on the 3rd of December 2019.
Such a long maturation has created a whisky of supreme depth and complexity, with layers of rich flavours. Drinkers can expect notes of thick vanilla custard, raspberry jam, lime zest, charred oak, overripe bananas, toasted hazelnut, milk chocolate, orange rind, creamy honey, ginger, malty bread and subtle peppery spice.
Despite such a lengthy time in the barrel, this Glen Grant has maintained its proof well, clocking in at a more than respectable 55.3% ABV. No chill filtration or colouration was used, ensuring the drinker enjoys the full benefit of this whisky’s great age.
Only 123 bottles were produced.
