A delicious rum from this Bajan distillery which has gained something of a cult following in recent years.

Foursquare has an excellent reputation for producing rum “the right way”, with proper age statements, and no added sugars or colouring.

This bottling follows suit. Described by the distillery as a “single blended rum”, it matches two rums, one of which has been aged entirely in Bourbon casks for 11 years, and the other which has split its maturation into five years in Bourbon casks and six years in ex-Zinfandel wine casks.

The bottling is a mixture of pot and column distillate, both spirits produced of high quality Caribbean molasses.

11 years is no small age for a rum matured in the hot climes of the Caribbean, and so it shows with this spirit, which showcases breathtaking depth of flavour and complexity.

With the wine cask influence, drinkers can expect a fruitier, sweeter (but not syrupy) rum. This rum opens up with light grapey and berry flavours, followed with some restrained oak and vanilla notes, a little toffee and some drying tropical flavours.

A flawless spirit, perfectly balanced, the rum is bottled at 43% ABV, giving it a little more edge and power.

Another superb achievement from one of the best rum distilleries in the business.
