Produced by the excellent St Lucia distillery, this rum was an instant hit upon its release in 2008, with its sleek design and balanced flavours. This bottle’s name refers the 8 elements of rum production that create a high quality spirit: terroir, cane, water, fermentation, distillation, tropical aging, blending and filtration. The rum is produced in a small batch distillation, so that the distiller can give it the proper care and attention it deserves. Elements 8 Gold is produced using molasses made using hand-picked sugar cane from Guyana, which is slowly fermented at a low temperature to create a more intense flavour. St Lucia distill this rum in pot, column and “bourbon pot” stills, ensuring a balance between the heavier and lighter styles. This rum has been aged in former Bourbon American White Oak barrels for 6 years, granting the spirit a superb maturity and complexity. After maturation, it is lightly charcoal filtered to eliminate impurities whilst keeping its brilliant gold colour. A superb bottling that delivers premium quality at a great price point.
