Another excellent single cask release from The Ultimate Whisky Company, who have been in the business of providing “honest malts” since 1994. This particular offering is a bottling of Deanston single malt, which began its life as a cotton mill in 1785, transforming to a whisky distillery in 1966. Deanston is a wholly energy self-sufficient distillery, with all power generated on site by a hydro-energy device.

This particular bottling of Deanston was first distilled in 2006, on the 28th of August, where it matured in a 1st fill sherry butt (cask number 900132) for 10 years and 9 months, before being bottled at a warming 46% ABV. This whisky is presented without any chill filtration or artificial colouration, allowing the spirit’s natural flavours to shine through.

The whisky has notes of sherried, dried fruit, banana bread, honey, sweet wine, and dark oak. Juicy and unctuous, sherried whisky fans will love this one. Only 831 bottles of this spirit were produced, meaning stocks are highly limited. Superb stuff again from the good folk at the Ultimate Whisky Company!
