A gin that reinvents the spirit by taking it back to the future. This is, as the name suggests, a gin created using cream as one of the principle ingredients. This was created by the London bar Worship Street Whistling Shop, for use in their Black Cat Martini – their signature cocktail. In the Victorian Era, “gin palaces” were lavish bars with gas chandeliers and mirrors. These palaces would often serve cream gin ¬– here a sort of gin liqueur, created by mixing gin with cream and sugar and leaving it to stand. This bottle of Cream Gin takes a different approach, using cold distillation to incorporate cream as one of the key botanicals. As such, the cream never receives any heat at all, meaning there are no cheesy or “cooked” flavours in this gin. About 100ml of cream is used to make each bottle, though there is no risk of this going off: it will last as long as all other spirits. The Cream Gin is excellent for adding a fascinating texture to drinks, with a thick, buttery quality alongside the botanic kick of gin. Delicious, and incredible stuff.
