The brainchild of founder Tom Lix, Cleaveland Black Bourbon is a recent addition to the burgeoning “new Bourbon” scene in America. Following a spirits trend, Lix claims that his patented technique of “pressure aging” means the distillery can produce a spirit with a flavour similar to that matured for 8–12 years, in far less time. We’ll let you be the judge of that one, but what we do know is this bourbon serves up tasty notes of cloves, vanilla, caramel and chocolate. This whiskey is produced in limited quantities, and bottled at the robust strength of 50% ABV, allowing the flavours to shine through. Extremely drinkable with a warming finish, this is another new whiskey to try!
