A superb single grain whisky from the sadly silent Cambus Distillery.
This whisky was distilled in the last years of Cambus’s operation, with the distillery closing for good in 1993.
The spirit has been matured for three decades in a single refill Sherry butt, having been bottled by Signatory Vintage in August 2021.
The end result is a jammy, rich and sweet single grain, featuring notes of baked berries (strawberries and blackcurrants), caramelised apples, raisins, orange zest, vanilla, cinnamon, black tea, toffee, tannic oak and clean, bright grain.
There a few things as delicious as a good quality, very matured Single Grain and this is an excellent example.
Only 454 bottles were drawn from the cask, with an ABV of 57.8%.
