A meeting of one of our favourite bottlers and one of our favourite distilleries with this Gordon & MacPhail bottled Bruichladdich.
This bottling from the Islay distillery joins the illustrious ranks of Gordon & MacPhail’s highly rated Cask Strength series.
A genuinely small batch whisky, this single malt was drawn from just two refill sherry butts, numbers 776 and 777, which were filled with whisky on the 6th of October 1994 and bottled on the 4th of May 2016, giving this dram an age of 21 years.
Refill sherry works superbly at these ages, and so it proves with this dram, a lusciously creamy and spicy Bruichladdich, with delightful floral Laddie notes, and touches of warming tropical and dried fruits. Dark oak adds depth and character to this whisky, gained over its long maturation.
This whisky benefit from being bottled at a cockle-warming 56.2% ABV, and without chill filtration or artificial colouration (as always with this Cask Strength range).
An absolute beauty from Gordon and MacPhail. The product of just two barrels, bottles are extremely limited.
