Blair Athol 21 Year Old 1997 - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)
70 cl, 56.8%

Another superb Gordon and MacPhail bottling, forming part of their famous, and highly esteemed, Connoisseurs Choice range.

Once again they’ve chosen a somewhat overlooked distillery to bottle spirit from. Blair Athol is known for producing a nutty spirit, due to its short fermentation. The inclusion of some solids in the wash stills creates a bread-like character in the final spirit. The malt is said to be the heart of Bell’s blend, one of the best selling Scotch whiskies.

This whisky has been aged in a single refill American oak hogshead for 21 years, having been distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2018.

The dram possesses notes of white pepper, apple pie, citrus peel, crisp green apples, honey, warm malt, vanilla custard, almonds, hazelnuts, white chocolate, slight herbs and a gentle touch of mint.

Bottled at a cask strength of 56.8% ABV, and without chill filtration or artificial colouration, this is a classic G&M bottling.

Just 253 bottles were produced.
