A bottle of Blair Athol from Gordon and MacPhail’s much lauded Connoisseurs Choice line – given a branding overhaul in 2018.
Blair Athol is a classic Highland malt, which sits right in the middle of Scotland’s largest whisky region. Beloved for many decades by blenders, it is a cornerstone of the famous Bell’s blend.
This particular bottling has been aged for 20 years in an American oak hogshead. The spirit was distilled in 1997, and bottled in February 2018. This long maturation has meant the whisky has developed a real depth and complexity, with delicious, subtle flavours.
Drinkers can expect notes of citrus rind, orchard fruit, toffee, vanilla and banana. The mouthfeel, aroma and flavours of this whisky are given a boost by its bottling proof, a natural cask strength of 54.5% ABV. Furthermore, no colouration or chill filtration was used to produce this whisky, ensuring it retains all of its natural character.
Another stellar selection from Gordon and MacPhail, just 255 bottles of this whisky were produced.
