A rather delicious cask finished whisky from recently revived Lowland distillery, Bladnoch. This bottling is a limited edition release.
This single malt was initially aged in Bourbon casks, before being disgorged and placed in Californian red wine casks for a finishing period in March 2016 and January 2017. The bottling is a blend of two vattings, ensuring good balance and consistency of flavour.
This whisky offers up notes of dried fruits, coffee, cherry, old oak, leather, red wine, plums, dates, orange rind, liquorice, spice, malt, biscuit and pepper.
The whisky was bottled at 46.7% ABV and without chill filtration, producing a full bodied dram.
A bolder style of Lowland whisky.
This is a nice scotch. Upon opening it is quite hot and rich without water. You should definitely use water. You really taste the red wine influence but I like it. I let it sit for a month or so and it wasn’t quite as hot. I use it as an after dinner dram still with water added. It goes great with lamb or steak. Very happy with this purchase.
