Bertrand XO Cognac
70 cl, 42%

Bertrand are a family owned Cognac house that dates back to the early 18th century.

The estate is found in the heart of the Petite Fine Champagne cru, and is known for its iconic Windmill of Bel’Air, which is surrounded by the domain’s tiny 82 hectares of vineyards.

The estate are also known for bottling Cognacs that massively exceed the required age statements – and this bottling is no exception, an XO that clocks in at no less than 35 years (some 25 years more than the legal requirement).

This single estate Cognac has been made using Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes grown on thin, chalky soil, which ensure the fruit develops the perfect level of acidity and flavour for distillation. Some of the vines at Bertrand are as old as 80 years, meaning they produce a more concentrated and flavoursome grape.

Bertrand XO has been double distilled in small batches and aged in a Limousin French oak casks. The result is an incredibly rich and opulent Cognac, that delivers notes of stewed white peaches, Mirabelle plums, raisins, sultanas, orange rind, rich vanilla cream, chocolate chips, roasted hazelnuts and cashews, dark oak, sweet grapes, toffee and dried flowers.

An XO Cognac of a rare and exceptional quality, this would pair well with chocolate tarts, cold meats or roasted duck.
