From Diageo’s 2012 Special Release, this is a 30 year old single malt whisky from the Auchroisk distillery, a distillery which is rarely bottled and attracts minimum attention. Auchroisk is actually one of Scotland’s youngest distilleries, established in 1974, but unfortunately it is never really bottled in anything other than blends, which is a real shame, because this is a really fantastic flavourful malt. This was matured in a combination of American and European oak casks, producing an outturn of 2976 bottles, all at cask strength, 54.7% ABV.
