The second edition of Arran’s much feted Bothy limited release series. These bottlings demonstrate the results of maturation in smaller casks. This process produces greater contact between whisky and oak, making for a faster and more intense maturation. In this case, the whisky was matured initially in first fill Bourbon barrels, before a secondary maturation in smaller casks constructed of American oak, for a period of 18 months. The smaller casks used here are a throwback to the 18th and 19th centuries, when they were used for horseback trade. The whisky has a full body, lovely sweetness and a slight peppery, coastal spice. A classic Isle of Arran whisky, with an inventive yet traditional production. This expression is limited to just 12,000 bottles worldwide, so fans of Arran should move fast if they want to try this beauty!
