A surprisingly rich and characterful silver Tequila. This is a 100% blue agave Tequila, containing 100% agave distillate, as opposed to the mixto varieties which see the agave spirit mixed with (usually) a molasses-based liquor. Indeed, this Tequila is only from agave grown on the company’s estate, so they have total control over the quality of the spirit. The company is family owned, and has been producing spirits since the early 1900s, though the Arette brand was first launched in 1986. Arette takes its name from the horse of Humberto Mariles, that won two gold and one bronze medals in the Olympic Jumping event – Mexico’s first and only medals in this event so far. An extremely high quality Tequila with a deep earthy note offset by bright, succulent agave flavours, Arette is a favourite amongst bartenders and has been identified as one of the reasons for Tequilas resurgence in recent decades.
