A fabulous single barrel release of a massively underrated distillery, Ardmore! This peaty Highlander was originally founded to supply the famous Teacher’s Cream blend with a reliable source of peated whisky. Ardmore is one of Scotland’s larger distilleries.
This particular bottling has been selected by the excellent Ultimate Whisky Company. The spirit was distilled on the 24th of July 2008, and bottled on the 5th of December 2016, making it 8 and half years old.
Ardmore 8 year old was bottled from a single former Bourbon cask (number 800129), which has allowed the spirit to take on a lovely clarity of flavour, youthful and spritely, with bright vanilla notes accompanying the spirit’s natural peaty flavours. The cask rounds off any rough edges the spirit might have.
This whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, and without either chill filtration or colouration, allowing the natural qualities of the spirit to shine through. A cracking peaty dram, and great value for money.
