A well-aged bottling of peaty Highland Ardmore, which once again demonstrates Gordon and MacPhail’s mastery of long maturation. Forming part of the bottler’s Distillery Labels series, this bottling features a charmingly retro label.

Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2018, this whisky is around 20 years old. As such it has had plenty of time to develop a lip-smacking complexity.

This dram serves up flavours of apple pie, heather honey, wet wood, anise, citrus, jammy cherries and raspberries, pastry, cloves, cinnamon, salted caramel and faint earthy peat. The long maturation has softened the fire of the peat, but it still provides a warming presence in this satisfying whisky.

Bottled 43% ABV for a touch more intensity, this whisky is bottled (as ever with this series) without artificial colouration.

A delightful bottling of an often underrated distillery.
