A beautifully jammy sherried whisky from Strathmill distillery, bottled by Signatory for their esteemed Cask Strength series.
Distilled on the 24th of October 2006, the spirit was aged in a single Oloroso cask for the majority of its maturation, before being finished in a fresh Sherry butt for 10 months. Ultimately, this dram was aged for 13 years, having been bottled on the 21st of October 2020 – just three days short of its 14th birthday!
The result is a rich, decadent dram with oodles of delicious sherry character. Expect notes of dark chocolate, honeyed nougat, balsamic on strawberries, hazelnut, walnut, cherries, creamy coffee, apples, ripe bananas, some candied fig and cinnamon, citrus rind, plums, prunes, raisins and dark oak.
An absolute belter – like a sherry bomb with a touch more savoury complexity. Bottled at a ripping 61.1% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a seriously intense dram.
Just 709 bottles were produced.
