No doubt one of the quirkier labels in the Gordon and MacPhail Distillery Labels series – what’s with the 70’s typeface? Why the quotation marks? Who cares! What we do know is that this is a delicious dram from a truly excellent distillery.
Strathisla is one of those beautifully old fashioned distilleries, complete with classic pagoda roofs. This distillery produces a well balanced spirit, and forms one of the keystones of Chivas Regal blends. Strathilsa is one of those distilleries that has a dedicated following of drinkers.
Distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2017, this bottling has aged for about 11 years. The flavour profile suggests a sherry maturation.
This bottling serves up big notes of ginger, flowers and green apples, followed by some flavours of woodspice, a little fresh citrus, gentle sherry and dried fruit.
A bottling strength of 43% ABV helps to showcase the weight of the spirit here, whilst a lack of colouration ensures there’s no tomfoolery!
