An extra special bottling in an extra special range of grain whiskies from the Angus Dundee company, better know for the malt whisky they produce at Glencadam and Tomintoul. This is a non age stated release produced using the Patent Still process. This is a technique in which the spirit is distilled in a column still (also known as a Patent Still). This allows for continuous distillation and constant production. This grain is made of unmalted wheat for breadiness and body, corn and maize for sweetness, rye for spice, with a small amount of malted barley for depth. The whisky has been matured in former Bourbon American oak barrels, creating a lovely, sweet and vanilla-laden dram. On the nose this is a light and slightly spirituous whisky, with lots of cereal sweetness, a little citrus peel, and grassy herbaceous notes. The palate is gentle, floral and sweet, with toffee flavours and a creamy mouthfeel, offset by a little pepper spice. The finish is short and fleeting. A perfect Scotch for an simple sipping or for sure in cocktails.
