A wonderful blend from bottlers and blenders Duncan Taylor. First launched in 2013, this is a rich, smoky blend of Scotch whiskies, containing malts from Islay and the mainland. This is a whisky that maintains a perfect balance between grain and malt ingredients, insuring an excellent, rounded flavour without any off-notes. A rich and smoky, it is the perfect accompaniment to smoked meats, a pipe or a good cigar, but also ideal for peat-loving non-smokers too! Whilst branded as a “Gentleman’s Dram” we are of no doubt that there are plenty women of whisky who would love to sample this beautiful offering. On the nose this is a tower of peat smoke, dense and rich with smoked fruits, some barbequed meats, toffee, caramel and a little cereal sweetness. The palate brings a light body, which matches the ashy, grassy peat that takes hold here. A little citrus rind, salted caramel and sea spray join the whisky here. The finish is short and smoky, with a little peppery spice and burnt butter. Does what it says on the tin, a perfect smoky blend! This dram picked up a gold medal in the International Wine and Spirit Competition of 2013, and a silver in the same competition of 2014!
