Another high quality blended malt from Mossburn, who are known for doing interesting things with casks to amplify certain characteristics of the whisky.
This is a blend of single malts from across the Scottish Islands. A typically smoky and coastal dram, the flavours of this bottling are enhanced by Mossburn’s use of specially coopered barrels. The blend is finished in 200 litre casks which feature heavily charred heads of European oak, and first fill Bourbon staves.
The result is a super spicy, smoky whisky, with strong Bourbon notes of corn-sweetness, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. These perfectly compliment the natural briny, peaty and fruity notes of the whisky, revealing flavours of caramelized fruit, charred oak and toasted spice.
Bottled at 46% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a well crafted whisky from Mossburn.
