A delicious Bas-Armagnac bottled by L'Encantada, who have a superb reputation for picking and bottling some of the best examples of France’s oldest brandy. This time round they have a chosen a cask from the Lous Pibous Estate.
Domaine Lous Pibous is located in Mauléon d’Armagnac, and is notable for its grape variety, entirely Folle Blanche – often known for producing excellent Cognacs, the grape makes a delicious Armagnac too, with plentiful floral flavours. Armagnacs at Lous Pibous are matured in new oak casks.
This single cask bottling was distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2019, having been aged for around 15 years.
The result is a crisp, floral Armagnac notes, with touches of toffee, milk chocolate, raisins, jammy berries, marmalade citrus, vanilla, grassy tobacco, orange rind and plums. Very similar to a Speyside whisky in some respects.
The Armagnac is bottled at 56.1% ABV, giving it an intensely creamy palate and full mouthfeel.
A real beauty, one of the best Armagnacs on the market.
