Another top notch bottling from the fine folk at Signatory Vintage. This single cask Ledaig forms part of their much loved Cask Strength series.
Ledaig is, of course, the title given to Tobermory’s peated spirit, and this is a marvellously smoky expression. The whisky has been aged for 12 years in a single refill Sherry butt, having been distilled on the 7th of June 2007 and bottled on the 11th of February 2020.
The result is a well balanced whisky that serves up notes of rich ashy peat, burnt malt, expresso, light dried fruits, sherried oak, cinnamon, slight chilli powder, sea spray, oily nuts, lemon rind, a little gunmetal and some mint.
Bottled at hot 59.8% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a ripper, full in flavour and body.
Only 604 bottles were produced.
