Probably the worlds most famous premium blended whisky, despite only being launched in the 1990s, Johnnie Walker Blue Label has become a cultural icon of quality blended whisky across the world. Very few drams can claim to have achieved this level of recognition, and it is not without good reason: Johnnie Walker Blue is made up of some of the finest stocks of aged malt and grain whisky around. The resulting whisky is satin-soft, with a subtle minerality and a rich, lingering sweetness.
This particular edition features a box and bottle specially designed by Alfred Dunhill’s company. Like the original Johnnie Walker (who blended whisky to gain consistency at a time when there was precious little in the whisky market), Alfred Dunhill was something of a visionary. A tobacconist by trade, he invented a special pipe that allowed motorists to smoke whilst driving. He later opened up a shop selling bespoke tobacco blends and goods for the discerning gentleman. Many credit him with the creation of the modern “luxury goods” market. Johnnie Walker Blue can certainly be considered a luxury good, and this bottle perhaps the most luxury edition of all, delightfully decadent and a true treat for any Johnnie Walker fan.
