Another cracking little bottling as part of Johnnie Walker’s superb and experimental Blenders’ Batch Series. This range is created by a team of 12 Johnnie Walker Blenders, doing over a hundred experiments. Only the best expressions were bottled.
Such innovative pursuits are a large part of the Johnnie Walker history, with the same experiments producing the famous Black Label over 100 years ago.
This particular dram is a wonderful blend of Speyside and Lowland whiskies, that have been finished in pot-still rum casks from the Caribbean. The experiment was overseen by blender Chris Clark.
This aging process is a perfect match for the light, subtle characters of the whiskies used, adding some much-appreciated sweetness, spice and pot-still funk. A little tropical fruit rounds out the palate nicely.
Johnnie Walker suggest using this blend in Tiki Drinks, a usual idea for a blended scotch whisky, but certainly one that really works.
