A delightful, well aged single grain whisky from Càrn Mòr and the Invergordon distillery.
Invergordon is a distillery found in the far north Highlands, which uses wheat and maize to distil spirit in three Coffey stills. Historically Invergordon has supplied many blenders with spirit, but is particularly associated with White and Mackay, who have used the distillery’s whisky in all their blended bottlings.
This whisky was distilled in 1987, and bottled in 2018, having been aged for 31 years in a single American oak Hogshead.
The result is a creamy, oaky dram with flavours of vanilla, barley, caramel, apples, hay, grass, red berries, apricots, milk chocolate, old dusty oak, yeasty bread and woody spice.
Bottled at a cask strength of 51.1% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is an example of just how good long aged grain whisky can be.
Only 237 bottles were produced.
