An excellent bottling of closed distillery Imperial from Càrn Mòr.

Imperial was one of the distilleries founded during the whisky boom of the late 1890s. Unfortunately the distillery would suffer many periods of closure throughout its history, mothballed for as long as 30 years at a time. Imperial distillery was finally demolished in 2013, with site now forming part of the new Dalmunach distillery.

Now occasionally found as an independently bottled single malt, Imperial possesses a light, floral style. Imperial has been earmarked by some to become the next highly sought after closed distillery whisky, following the path of Brora and Port Ellen.

This 1995 vintage has been matured in a single Bourbon barrel for 23 years. The whisky offers up notes of cakey malt, mixed nuts, rich vanilla, oak, ginger, brown sugar, fresh apricot, ginger, slight coffee and flowers.

Bottled at a warming cask strength of 42.1% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a supple and palate-filling dram.

Just 230 bottles were produced.
